[11 Mar 2009|10:08am]

I'm researching the most popular restaurants in the downtown Omaha area, specifically around the Old Market. What are your favorite restaurants and which ones would you consider first when planning a social gathering? I'm hoping to find restaurants that are more eclectic and are popular for groups to meet at, possibly late at night and with a broad range of menu options. Thank you for any tips/knowledge you have to offer!

spanish food [24 Oct 2007|02:46pm]

Is there any place in town to get good spanish food?  I know that there is Espana, but I heard it was mostly tapas/appetizer type food.  Speaking of Espana, is that any good?  I live two blocks away and have never been.

I found this community while randomly browsing people's profiles and I love food so decided to join... if it's not too late.

well, while i could write a review of the pre-packaged meatball sandwich i had last night from phillips 66, i will write about dinner a few nights ago at...

Kim Son Seafood Grill
333 North 78th Street

When I first drove past Kim Son, I figured it was yet another strip mall chinese restaurant with the same 10 dishes as every other. Upon closer inspection, I saw the glowing neon "PHO" sign and I realized that I had stumbled on something I've been looking for since arriving in Omaha... a Vietnamese place.

The menu looked fantastic, and there were a lot of good traditional dishes that made the decision difficult.

I tried the Rice Noodles with barbecued pork and crispy roll, and it was wonderful. The vegetables were fresh, and the meat appeared to have been cooked to order for the dish, something that may seem obvious, but I often suspect is not the case. Service was great, and there was only one other group there, so I don't imagine that a wait would ever be an issue. I think I paid $7 for the meal, and it was a decent sized bowl. I'll be back to try the Pho.
